When I lived in Brixton ,Nick visited me one Good Friday and we went on a pub crawl ending up in a pub by the station called the Railton Arms, I think.It was full of West Indians,we were the only white people in there.Next day I walked him down to the bus.As we passed a newsagent I pointed out the headline of the Sun.It said ' Battle of Brixton' We stared at it and realised that while we staggered around Brixton we narrowly missed the famous 1981 riots.He loved that story.
